In the beginning.....
Blacksmiths Public School
Ever talked about playground upgrades at P&C meetings ?
If your anything like our little school in Blacksmiths, its on the agenda constantly, always trying to improve the place where our kids spend most of their awake hours.
We have an awesome vege patch, chickens (that are fed by our left over lunches), great playground equipment, new soccer goals, we are a bin-less school, garden markets, worm farming, composting, solar panels and we use tank water......... wow no wonder we keep winning the Lake Macquarie Environment Awards.
Now, the problem was the old faded art work that had been lovingly applied many many years ago, infact a few mums tell me they were kids at the school when it was done !
So, hesitantly, I raised my hand and mentioned I was handy with a paintbrush. Well, decision made I had the job. No backing out.
I needed back up, I called my very good friend Mandy who was also good with a brush and off we went, with a few other mums at school, some paint from our local Blacksmiths Home Timber and Hardware and some pretty raw sketches I had drawn.
Two weeks later job done !
How rewarding, constant appraisal, clapping from the kids, a great thanks at assembly each day but most rewarding, the smiles on teachers and kids faces when they see it.
Definitely brightened up our school !
And thus.... the beginnings of Artypants Playground Markings.
